RESTYLANE Dermal Filler | DermaFashion MedSpa

WHAT IS RESTYLANE?

Restylane is a Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal filler that has the appearance of a smooth gel-like substance. It is an excellent ingredient to use as filler because HA is a naturally occurring substance that maintains moisture in the skin, which in turn helps reduce the manifestation of wrinkles as well as makes the skin more firm and supple. HA fillers can therefore visibly correct facial wrinkles in a way that both looks and feels natural.

Restylane can be used to smooth nasolabial folds (those from your nose to the corners of your mouth), treat marionette lines (those from the corners of your mouth to your chin), plump and define lips, fill the tear trough area (the hollows under ones eyes), and more in clients 21 years and older.

HOW DOES RESTYLANE WORK?

As we naturally age and accumulate exposure to harmful materials like ultraviolet light, smoke, pollution, and more, important substances in our skin that give us our youthful glow begin to decline. These include hyaluronic acid which provides moisture to our skin, collagen which provides structure to the skin, elastin which provides elasticity to the skin, and many more. When these substances lessen the result is sagging skin, thinner skin, formation of wrinkles, and reduction of volume. However, with dermal fillers such as Restylane these substances can be synthetically replenished and youth can return to your looks.

Restylane is indicated for use around the mouth area, and can correct volume loss and wrinkles in that region. Restylane is administered nonsurgically through injection using a sharp, thin-needled syringe. Results will have clients basking in a more youthful appearance that is natural-looking and subtle.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?

Juvederm Fillers - Volbella | DermaFashion MedSpa

In our office we provide our filler clients with complimentary Arnica, an oral medication that greatly reduces the occurrence of bleeding, bruising and/or swelling during and after treatment. This should be taken starting 2 days before treatment.

Please refrain from taking any blood thinners, or anti-inflammatory medication, which includes Advil, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, etc. about a week before treatment. This also reduces the chance of bleeding, bruising, and swelling. Please avoid alcoholic drinks for about 24-48 hours before treatment.

BEFORE

Before beginning your Restylane injection, you will be asked about your medical history as well as your treatment goals. This personal evaluation will determine whether you are an appropriate candidate to receive this treatment or not, and you will be consulted regarding what to expect during and after treatment, including possible side effects. The skin around the treatment area will be examined by DermaFashion RNs and photos will be taken solely to compare your before/after look. Topical numbing cream will be applied to the area prior to treatment, and the treatment area will be prepared by being cleansed with alcohol or other antiseptics.

DURING

After the first injection into the cheek or mouth region, your nurse will wait a few seconds to allow the lidocaine to take effect before moving forward with the rest of the treatment.  Restylane gel will be injected in small amounts over the treatment area until the desired aesthetic outcome is achieved.  Your nurse may massage the treatment area gently to assure that the material is evenly distributed.  An ice pack will be applied for a brief period of time following treatment to minimize swelling and reduce pain.

AFTER

Your nurse will also tell you what to expect following Restylane injectable gel treatment. Within the first 24 hours, you should minimize strenuous exercise and extensive exposure to sunlight or heat. Exposure to any of the aforementioned may increase temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site.  If there is swelling, you may place an ice pack over the swollen area.
