JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS
WHAT IS JUVEDERM?
JUVÉDERM is an HA (hyaluronic acid) dermal filler brand formulated by the company Allergan, and it enjoys being the highest selling filler collection in the US. Each JUVÉDERM filler corrects volume loss and smooths a different area of the face by lifting cheeks, plumping lips, smoothing parentheses lines, and more. The results are natural looking and can last for years.
The JUVÉDERM collection of fillers is made from a modified form of HA and resembles a colorless and smooth gel. The injectable gel contains a small amount of lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to reduce injection discomfort during treatment. HA is a prime ingredient for dermal fillers because the substance is a naturally occurring sugar found in the skin which deliver nutrients within the skin, helps skin retain its natural softness and moisture, and adds volume to the skin.
WHAT IS JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS USED FOR?
As we age, our lips lose their youthful shape and plumpness, wrinkles start to accumulate around the mouth, and our cheeks fall flat which in turn deepen our nasolabial folds (those from our nose to the corner of our mouth). JUVÉDERM XC Ultra Plus is designed to plump and shape lips, fill nasolabial folds, and smooth line and wrinkles in the lower face region (the mouth area) in adults over the age of 21.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus is designed to temporarily reverse signs of aging in the lower face region by smoothing out wrinkles around the nose and mouth area, enhancing the lips, adding volume to nasolabial folds, and more. Your results will be a smoother, fuller, and more youthful appearance with a subtle touch that nobody can quite put their finger on.
JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus is delivered by injection into the mouth and surrounding areas on the face using a very small and fine needled syringe. Lidocaine mixed with the HA material helps to improve client comfort during treatment. JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus lasts for about a year for most clients depending on their metabolism, and never fails to please.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?
In our office we provide our filler clients with complimentary Arnica, an oral medication that greatly reduces the occurrence of bleeding, bruising and/or swelling during and after treatment. This should be taken starting 2 days before treatment.
Please refrain from taking any blood thinners, or anti-inflammatory medication, which includes Advil, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, etc. about a week before treatment. This also reduces the chance of bleeding, bruising, and swelling. Please avoid alcoholic drinks for about 24-48 hours before treatment.
Before beginning your injectable gel procedure, you will be asked about your medical history as well as your treatment goals. This personal evaluation will determine whether you are an appropriate candidate to receive this treatment or not, and you will be consulted regarding what to expect during and after treatment, including possible side effects. The skin around the treatment area will be examined by DermaFashion RNs and photos will be taken solely to compare your before/after look. Topical numbing cream will be applied to the area prior to treatment, and the treatment area will be prepared by being cleansed with alcohol or other antiseptics.
After the first injection into the cheek or mouth region, your nurse will wait a few seconds to allow the lidocaine to take effect before moving forward with the rest of the treatment. JUVÉDERM™ XC gel will be injected in small amounts over the treatment area until the desired aesthetic outcome is achieved. Your nurse may massage the treatment area gently to assure that the material is evenly distributed. An ice pack will be applied for a brief period of time following treatment to minimize swelling and reduce pain.
Your nurse will also tell you what to expect following JUVÉDERM ™ XC injectable gel treatment. Within the first 24 hours, you should minimize strenuous exercise and extensive exposure to sunlight or heat. Exposure to any of the aforementioned may increase temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site. If there is swelling, you may place an ice pack over the swollen area.
