WHAT IS IPL PHOTOFACIAL?
IPL (Intense Pulse Light) Photofacial is an FDA-approved non-invasive laser treatment that is able to treat surface imperfections on the dermis to balance and improve complexion. These range from damage inflicted from the sun such as sun spots, skin discoloration such as hyperpigmentation, vascular concerns such as angiomas, or skin conditions such as Rosacea (a cosmetic condition characterized by facial erythema or redness of the skin). IPL is a light-based laser technology, whereby light is scattered across targeted areas during treatment instead of a single laser targeting a very specified spot.
IPL compares with our other Rejuvenation laser treatments (Genesis and Titan) by being the first tier of the three in terms of the depth of the dermis it targets, meaning that it targets the most shallow layer of the dermis. Depending on the ailment and your skin type, IPL can give clients great results in no time.
HOW DOES IPL WORK?
IPL Photofacial uses a specialized laser called Intense Pulse Light (IPL) that scatters light particles (photons, the root of the name Photofacial) and multiple wavelengths across targeted areas. This is different from normal lasers that focus a single wavelength at a very specified area. During several treatments, the IPL fades fine wrinkles and the brown spots caused by the sun in order to improve your skin complexion at the surface level of the dermis. IPL energy offers gentle and steady improvements with minimal side effects and no down time as the light is absorbed underneath the skin and collagen production is induced.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING IPL?
IPL delivers excellent results after few treatments (the number can be determined by our Nurses through consultation, but a good starting point is about 3 sessions), has little to no downtime following treatment, is virtually painless, is a quick procedure, and is FDA-approved and therefore certifiably safe and effective. IPL can treat a plethora of superficial facial imperfections including but not limited to Rosacea, sun damage, textural irregularities and hyperpigmentation. Further, Photofacial is an easy, non-invasive, and hassle-free way to treat these ailments that add years to your skin. To get optimal results, it’s recommended to come back for touch-up treatments.
