Juvederm Volbella

Juvederm Volbella Filler - Lip Injectable | DermaFashion MedSpa in San Diego, CA

WHAT IS JUVEDERM VOLBELLA?

Juvederm Volbella is one of the newest additions to the Juvederm family of fillers, recently having been FDA approved in 2016 for use around the lip area in adults over 21. Volbella is a HA (hyaluronic acid) based filler that has the consistency of a smooth gel, and a thinness/softness that is unparalleled among the other Juvederm fillers. For anybody looking for very soft lip enhancement or to add a bit of volume to their thinning lips, Volbella is the perfect dermal filler.

WHY CHOOSE VOLBELLA?

As a member of the prestigious Juvederm family of fillers, Volbella will surely not disappoint. This filler contains 0.3% of the numbing agent lidocaine for a smoother and more comfortable injection experience. The thinner and softer consistency of Volbella as well as the Vycross technology that it utilizes make results from this filler very natural-looking and subtle. The Vycross technology further serves to make Volbella less likely to absorb water and therefore produce less swelling as compared to other HA fillers.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

Juvederm Volbella can be used to smooth perioral lines (known as smokers lines, the fine lines around the lips), softly plump marionette lines (those lines around the corners of your lips), correct droopiness at the corners of lips, add contour to your lips, accentuate your cupids bow, improve the symmetry of lips, and overall subtly enhance the lip area with a soft touch. Volbella can also be used to treat the tear-trough area under the eyes. This filler is not appropriate for plumping of lips or treating deep lines, however.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?

Juvederm Dermal Fillers | DermaFashion MedSpa

In our office we provide our filler clients with complimentary Arnica, an oral medication that greatly reduces the occurrence of bleeding, bruising and/or swelling during and after treatment. This should be taken starting 2 days before treatment.

Please refrain from taking any blood thinners, or anti-inflammatory medication, which includes Advil, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, etc. about a week before treatment. This also reduces the chance of bleeding, bruising, and swelling. Please avoid alcoholic drinks for about 24-48 hours before treatment.

BEFORE

Before treatment, clients are encouraged to come in for a complimentary consultation with one of our Nurses to discuss targeted treatment and determine the best treatment for each client’s individual needs. After booking, clients should refrain from taking any blood thinners right before treatment. This should be consistent avoidance of things like Advil, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, and even alcoholic drinks for about a day or two before coming to get filler injections. Further, our office provides complimentary Arnica (an oral medication that reduces the likelihood/prevents bruising, swelling, and bleeding during treatment) to our clients, and they can start taking it a day or two before their treatments.

DURING

During treatment, our Nurses will initially put a topical numbing agent on the treatment area before commencing injections. The comfort of our clients is a priority at DermaFashion. Treatment should be about 30-60 minutes total. Our Nurses will be sure to address client concerns and needs during treatment through multiple examinations following each injection to assure evenness and appropriate targeting of problem areas.

AFTER

After treatment, it will take about a month to see the full final result, but many clients have been able to see initial results immediately after treatment. However, it is important to be patient for the full results to reveal themselves. There is not much downtime following treatment, and any side effects clients may experience should dissipate after a few days. Clients can resume everyday activities the day after treatment, but should refrain from strenuous physical activity, exercise, extensive sun exposure, blood thinners, and alcoholic drinks for about 24 hours post treatment.
